Get Your Oral Appliance for Sleep Apnoea

All our appointments are via telemedicine (video). In your first video appointment, you will speak with a sleep specialist to discuss your symptoms and whether you might benefit from sleep apnoea screening. You will learn about the at-home sleep study and evaluation process.

You will have a a follow-up video appointment to review the results of your sleep test and discuss treatment options. If you choose treatment with an oral appliance, our staff will assist you with the dental impressions scheduling, and introduction to one of our networked dental sleep specialists for a scheduled virtual visit.

Your gum and teeth health are important factors. You must have at least one healthy molar on each side of the upper and lower jaw. Your gums must be in good shape (no excessive swelling, bleeding or pain,) and you must be able to open your mouth without pain in the jaw joint. (If you have pain from grinding your teeth, an oral device will protect them.) You can’t get a device during treatment with invisalign, braces, or dental implants, or other major dental work. However, you can get an oral device after completing the dental work.

The NHS currently does not cover oral applinace therapy, but if you have private insurance, check to see if the treatment will be covered.

Make an appointment with a BlueSleep specialist. Be sure to fill out the questionnaire before your appointment. Take the home sleep test. If the results are positive, we’ll recommend an oral device or aq CPAP. We will arrange for a visit with an experienced dental sleep specialist if you choose the oral appliance.

The beneficial results of wearing an oral device are generally immediate and continue to improve over an adjustment period of 2-4 weeks under the supervision of the BlueSleep Team. Patients take a follow-up home sleep test six weeks after receiving the device to evaluate the treatment. The oral appliance prevents sleep apnoea, so we recommend you always use it when sleeping.
